01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Recognisable by its blue exterior in a quiet residential corner of Urayasu, Meina Bakery specialises in crusty European-style breads that highlight the natural flavour of wheat. The counter displays baguettes with deeply baked, crisp crusts alongside rustic country loaves made with whole-wheat and rye flours, each offering an earthy, unhurried sweetness as you chew.

For those who appreciate the interplay of a crisp crust and gentle sweetness, the bakery's milk baguette is an easy highlight, filled with a house-made cream sweetened with unrefined cane sugar. The rich dairy cream settles neatly into the crackling baguette crumb. Other sweet variations build on distinctive ingredients, including a French dough studded with dainagon adzuki beans and a loaf pairing tart cranberries with cream cheese.

For the table, the selection includes chewy pain de campagne made with whole wheat and rye, as well as loaves folded with nuts and citrus peels. Breads such as the Campagne Fruits and the four-nut variety layer fragrant, toasted nuts with the acidity of dried fruit—satisfying on their own, but equally suited to cheese and wine.

Daily table breads such as soft shokupan and pain de mie are also on offer; their pillowy texture eats well as is or lightly toasted for a crisp exterior. The shop operates entirely for takeaway with counter service, and payments can be made using IC transport cards or PayPay.
